
SSE Helps National Healthcare Company Improve Processes and Productivity with Innovative Mobile Training Solution
RehabCare Group, a leading national rehabilitation services provider, was challenged with a need to train its staff of 15,000 practitioners dispersed among 1,300 locations on new application software being delivered on new point-of-care devices, the Apple iPod Touch. RehabCare Group partnered with SSE, an innovative St. Louis-based technology and education firm, to develop a mobile training strategy that would allow employees to be trained in an efficient, timely manner and minimize disruption to daily operations. The training solution had to be created not only to teach the staff how to use the new software, but also to teach them how to use the unfamiliar technology of the iPod Touch. To accomplish this, SSE developed a custom training solution to fit the iPod Touch framework so it could be accessed directly from the mobile point-of-care device. The solution included simulation exercises that allowed practitioners to rehearse using their application and the Touch device through real-world scenarios, which simultaneously improved their speed and accuracy with the new software. The solution was hosted via SSE’s custom Learning Management System (LMS), allowing RehabCare Group to track the progress of individual employees and create reports monitoring overall effectiveness. SSE also included a number of “How-To” videos and printable job aids as additional resources for the employees.
