Johnnie Foster was appointed to the position of Director, Graduate Studies in Information Systems Management with the Sever Institute of Continuing Studies in the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

His efforts are focused upon leading the Center for the Application of Information Technology (CAIT).  In this position, he works closely with industry leaders in the Saint Louis metropolitan area to assure our programs are in line with their needs. In addition, Johnnie works closely with Phd. Tom Browdy providing input for our Information Systems Management related programs through his expertise and community involvement.

Johnnie is an experienced, results oriented executive with a proven track record. After nearly thirty years of service, he retired from Monsanto/Solutia in June of 2004 as the Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Information Officer. At that time his duties included global responsibility for information technology, procurement, transportation and distribution and corporate security. During his career he worked in a variety of assignments in the finance, information technology, and procurement areas. His experience included assignments at four U.S. manufacturing locations, as well as corporate level assignments such as internal auditing and business process redesign. These assignments required significant travel and exposure to global operations in Europe, Latin America and Asia.

In July of 2004, he joined MAVERICK Technologies LLC, as a Sr. Vice President until March 2008. During this time he worked in a number of areas including commercial management of the Engineering and Information Technology components of the business. MAVERICK Technologies LLC is a privately held and entrepreneurial Engineering and Information Technology services company headquartered in Columbia, IL. MAVERICK Technologies LLC has been consistently ranked among the fastest growing privately held companies for five of the past six years and was selected in 2008 by St. Louis Commerce Magazine as one of the “TOP 50 Businesses Shaping Our Future”. This will be the sixth time MAVERICK has received this recognition.

Johnnie is not a stranger to Washington University or the Sever Institute. During his career he has been involved for a number of years as a member of the Center for the Application of Information Technology (CAIT) executive board as well as a number of other information technology industry groups such as the Conference Board CIO Forum and the Chemical Industry Information Technology association.

Johnnie earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration – Accounting from West Virginia State University and a Master of Science in Information Systems from Western New England College in Springfield, MA.
