Dr. Greg Mathison has invested more than 20 years of his career in public service, healthcare, and education—as a clinician, administrator, and policy maker for County and State governments. He began his career as a counseling psychologist working for County governments in southern Minnesota, later moving into administrative positions directing State and County health and human services agencies in the Twin Cities. As a consultant to the State of Minnesota he wrote several books to improve child protection and family services.
He served as Assistant Secretary of Florida’s Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, leading 4,000 staff in the provision of public health and human services for two million residents of West Central Florida. He also worked for the State of Missouri, serving as Deputy Director of Missouri’s Department of Mental Health until 1998.
Dr. Mathison has been an innovator in applying the latest network and information technologies to improve the delivery of public services. He directed Verizon’s Healthcare, Education, and State/Local Government Vertical Practices for 9 years. He currently serves as Cisco Systems’ Global Solutions for Mobile Government and Education, helping customers maximize technology to improve the quality and effectiveness of government, education, and public safety services.
He holds a Master of Science in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Organizational Psychology.
For more than fifteen years, Dr. Mathison has served as an adjunct faculty member in several universities, teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has taught Leadership and Teams, Organizational Behavior, Strategic Human Resources, Ethics, and other courses. He currently teaches in the University of Central Florida, MBA program. In addition, he facilitates leadership seminars for the FDLE Criminal Justice Executive Institute and the CA POST Command College. As a volunteer and advocate he has helped numerous organizations for children and families.
