Robert J. Osborn II, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is deputy director of Distribution Portfolio Management, Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems (TCJ6V), United States Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. 

As a U.S. Marine, Osborn worked his way up the ranks to staff sergeant before being selected for warrant officer as an embarkation/logistics officer.  After various assignments in Marine units ranging in size from 350 to 3500, Osborn was selected as a limited duty officer and promoted to captain (LDO). He served in batteries, battalions, squadrons, on division staffs, fleet service support group (FSSG) staffs, was logistics officer and embarkation officer for 24th MEU(SOC) where he was principal logistics liaison with SHAPE Headquarters and NATO FWD during Operation Noble Anvil in Greece and as lead of advance party operations for Operation Desert Thunder in Kuwait.

Osborn served as combat cargo officer aboard the USS Dubuque and the PHIBRON 11 staff.  He has served in a number of specialties, including C-130 radio operator/loadmaster, field artilleryman as a howitzer platoon sergeant, NCO school instructor with the 1 st Marine Division, and primary marksmanship instructor.  Osborn has also served in the Marine Security Guard Program with the Department of State at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, and was selected to provide personal protection for the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon for a two-year tour.  Osborn served as chief of the logistics automation branch at Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps prior to retirement.

Prior to assuming his current position, Osborn was the logistics chief information officer for the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, G4, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
